AMA (Ask Maintenance Anything)

We held an AMA (Ask Maintenance Anything) session in a bid to raise awareness for National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day (Wednesday, June 19th) and our ongoing campaign to highlight Unsung Heroes within Healthcare EFM.

So we have asked Nick and Neil, PPL Training’s trusty Maintenance team, some light hearted questions…

Nick Davey | Maintenance Assistant

Neil Suter | Maintenance Assistant

  1. How long have you worked in Maintenance?

Nick: 15 years for me.
Neil: Only 4 years for me… I only came here for 3 weeks… and that was 4 years ago!

  1. What’s the worst maintenance task that nobody talks about?

Neil: Unblocking sewage drains.
Nick: I don’t do that… we leave that to Neil.

  1. What’s the best thing about working in maintenance at PPL?

Neil: We have great work colleagues, we get on with our work but we have a great laugh while we are doing it.
Nick: Its the variety of jobs, and that its different every day.

  1. Is your phone full of before and after pics, or photos of nuts and bolts?

Neil: As well as our amazing achievements, some of the best photos in my phone show our workplace humour.
Nick: I have loads of before pics… the after ones not so much. We are always getting on with the next job.

Neil: It’s seeing it all come together at the end, that’s my favourite part of any project really.

  1. Are you the go-to handy-man at home, or do you actively avoid it?

Both: Definitely the go-to. We won’t be paying anyone to fix anything.

  1. How many screws are down the side of your bed?

Both: None. We keep very tidy pockets.

  1. Of the two of you, who is the worst driver?

Neil: Nick.
Nick: Neil. Neil has zero coordination. He drives past the exit to our car park sometimes…

  1. Do you have a favourite tool, or…?

Neil: No comment.
Nick: Well… Mine is a spirit level.

Neil: Sailing my boat down the local canals and waterways.
